Overview of the Cyber Commander CT Software

Our first goal was to make the original Cyber Twin’s controls simple and easy to use with a simple left-mouse-point-and-click interface. The left-mouse-point-and-click allows quick and easy Real-Time control of all the original Cyber Twin’s settings and presets (Custom Shop, Player’s Lounge and Your Amp) as well as the MIDI Map.

Our second goal was to provide you with easy to use graphical Player’s Lounge and MIDI Map editors. These are accessed by left-mouse-clicking on the Build Player’s Lounge or Build MIDI Map buttons. The key feature of these editors is a click-drag’n’drop graphical editor that let’s you see the entire Player’s Lounge or MIDI Map as an ordered list. You can easily re-order the list, modify it, or add new presets to it by simply clicking and drag-and-dropping any preset or group of presets.

Cyber Commander CT Screen Organization

The Cyber Commander CT screen layout is depicted below:

A brief overview of the four screen sections of the Cyber Commander CT is as follows:

Section 1, displayed on top, the Menu Bar is mostly used to set up the original Cyber Twin, Fender Foot Controller, and the MIDI communications between Cyber Commander CT and the original Cyber Twin.

To use these Menu Bar buttons, just left-mouse-click the Menu Bar buttons. The Menu Bar buttons are either one-shot commands or a procedure selection (such as System Setup). The first button you will probably use is the System Setup button. The second button will probably be Connect Amp/FC once you have set up the MIDI devices, the original Cyber Twin and Cyber Commander CT.

Section 2, from just below the Menu Bar to the Cyber Twin Master Control knobs, displays all of the original Cyber Twin’s internal settings. This entire area allows you to access all of the original Cyber Twin’s tone controls, amp settings, effects, reverb types, and effects foot button switch, with a simple left-mouse-point-and-click.

This part of the screen will always display exactly what the original Cyber Twin is set to, this is the What-You-See-Is-What-You-Hear (WYSIWYH) screen. Whenever any of these settings are modified, the original Cyber Twin will be instantly set to these as well. This also applies to retrieving any single preset file (from your PC or the original Cyber Twin). When loaded into Cyber Commander CT, the riginal Cyber Twin will be set to the same settings as on Cyber Commander.

Section 3, displays Cyber Commander CT’s Master Control knobs, Data Display Window, and the original Cyber Twin jewel. Section 3 cuts the screen in half.

The Master Control knobs are always set to the Current Settings. When the mouse pointer enters a Master Control knob area, it’s border will become highlighted in Yellow indicating that you can rotate the knob by left-mouse-clicking, holding down the click, and dragging the mouse to rotate the knob. When the mouse click is released, you release control of the knob.

Section 4, the lower part of the screen below the Master Control Panel and Display window has three functional areas:"

  1. Just below the Master Control knobs on the left of the screen, there are 4 subgroups.

    1. The first subgroup, the Single Presets and Player’s Lounge buttons, allows the retrieval and storage of files and settings to/from Cyber Commander CT, to/from the original Cyber Twin, and to/from your PC. Get and Save Factory Presets simply saves the original Cyber Twin’s factory default Player’s Lounge to your PC.

    2. The MIDI status lamps and warnings are displayed and provide feedback on the MIDI status. Use the Menu Bar’s Cyber Twin Sys Utils or Cyber Commander CT MIDI Comms to set the MIDI communication parameters. The Refresh/Test MIDI button is used to refresh all MIDI parameter information. It will also retrieve all of the original Cyber Twin’s System Utilities including the MIDI Map and load them into Cyber Commander CT.

    3. The Amplifier Presets and Quick Acc buttons allow you to select the original Cyber Twin’s Active Preset. The most important of these is the Amplifier Presets window, it allows you to load any of the original Cyber Twin’s Presets in one click. As soon as a preset is selected, the entire top half of the screen is updated and the original Cyber Twin is set to the selected preset – it becomes the Active Preset. The Amplifier Presets window also contains the Build Player’s Lounge button which when clicked, opens the Player’s Lounge editor. The Quick Acc buttons give you the same functionality as the original Cyber Twin’s Quick Access. Memory Protection should be unchecked to allow the saving of data onto the original Cyber Twin.

    4. The Fender Foot Controller state is displayed at the bottom. As the Foot Controller’s buttons or pedals are used, the lamps and pedal action will be displayed.

  2. From just below Cyber Commander CT’s Cyber Twin Data Display Window, the lower middle half of the screen displays the MIDI Map settings and file controls.

This window is used for setting up the Fender Foot Controller’s MIDI Map Program selections. The MIDI Map can be edited, saved, or retrieved from either your computer or the Cyber Twin. The Build MIDI Map button opens the MIDI Map editor and allows you to create, edit, save and restore the MIDI Map to/from Cyber Commander CT, the original Cyber Twin, or your PC.

  3. The lower right of the screen, just below Cyber Commander CT’s Cyber Twin Data Display Window, displays the Pedal Assignments (Expression pedal and the Continuous Controller pedal).

Although the Pedal Assignments are displayed in the lower right of the screen, the entire top half of the screen and Pedal Assignments are part of the Current Settings. Whenever Current Settings are saved, the Pedal Assignments are saved along with all of the settings in the top half of the screen. The Pedal Assignments and the settings in the top half screen define all of the original Cyber Twin’s Current Settings.
